Houston Boudoir Photography | 5 Boudoir Outfits to Try in Your Session
Boudoir photography sessions are as unique as the amazing women featured in them. Boudoir is a great way to love, embrace, and appreciate that beautiful skin you’re in while showing off your style and personality. You may not be wearing a whole lot, but the little you do wear determines the overall style of your photos. So, we’re here to offer a few ideas for boudoir outfits to try in your session.
Why You Need a Boudoir Session…For YOU!

But first, I want to take a moment to highlight who should do a boudoir photography session and why you need one! (It may not be the answer you’re expecting.)
I truly believe that every woman—no matter her age, body shape, or stage in life—should try a boudoir session at least once in her life. Flying solo? A boudoir session doesn’t have to be for someone else–do it for yourself! Still, trying to feel comfortable in your skin after pregnancy? A boudoir session will empower you! You’ve done incredible things to earn these warrior scars and stripes and beauty marks.
Don’t put it off. Trust me. Boudoir photography has a way of showing you how others see you—in the best way! It gives you perspective and shows you that you are absolutely beautiful, strong, and capable. And, I promise to make you feel comfortable and guide you every step of the way. (Note: Holding some of these poses may have you feeling like hitting the gym—it’s a great workout you’ll actually enjoy!)
Boudoir photography will help you uncover your most confident self. And if you want to gift your boudoir album to your other half, that’s just a bonus. Ladies, this one is for you! (Although I guarantee you’ll knock your special someone’s socks off if you go that route.)
So, now that I’ve convinced you to go for it…what should you wear?
I recommend selecting boudoir outfits you feel gorgeous in. Splurge on some lingerie or even a piece you never thought you’d go for but might want to try. This is a safe place, and I say go for it! What makes you feel pretty? If you want, use your boudoir pieces to show off your unique style and personality—a representation of yourself.

5 Boudoir Photography Outfits You’ll Love
Sheer Fabrics
A sheer robe, loungewear, or even a thin shirt is a great way to evoke intrigue, mystique, and reveal all while actually showing nothing. It’s like hinting at a secret and giving nothing away. Sheer fabrics are incredibly elegant and glamorous and flatter any body shape, especially those lovely curves. If you prefer a softer, suggestive take on boudoir photography, this is it! Even if you’re not camera-shy and have lots of great boudoir outfits, I encourage ladies to try at least one sheer piece because the lighting and overall look are absolutely gorgeous!
Pops of Color
Add some color to your session to spice up your photos and highlight your eyes. I personally love red, purple, blue, teal, and pink—go with whatever you’re feeling. If you aren’t sure, go ahead and bring it along and I can help you decide.
Delicate Lace
Of course, you can’t go wrong with a pretty lace bodysuit, wrap, or bralette set. Lace is extra feminine and elegant, and you can play with different designs to show or not show what you’d like.
Strappy Boudoir Outfits
Strappy lingerie styles are always in. No worries if this is out of your comfort zone. Let me know if you’d like to try a few images with strappy outfits, and we’ll do whatever you feel comfortable with. Strappy sets can accentuate all the right places and bring attention to your favorite areas. Straps add some line and dimension for an edgier, dramatic look.
Lingerie Sets
You can go flirty and fun, too. Try a shortie and bralette set, romper, or slip set for a cute matchy look.
Sporty & Cheeky Boudoir Sets
Alternatively, maybe you aren’t super girly all the time. You can hit the courts, trails, or field with the best of them. If it fits your personality, you could try boy shorts, wide-band hipster or cheeky underwear, a fitness bodysuit, or an unbuttoned men’s shirt for an entirely different, sportier look. If you’re gifting your photos, bring along a men’s dress shirt or an item from your partner’s closet for some flirty images. We can play with lighting to accentuate your silhouette.
